Dear all DPSers,
As penance for my old age, and retirement (at the end of October, 2011, at the
age of 68), I have volunteered at the Conservation Library (Department of Parks
and Wildlife - DPaW) to catalogue photographs from the former Departments of
Fisheries & Fauna, Forests Department, Department of Conservation &
Conservation, and Conservation & Land Management (CALM).
Some of the photographs date back to the late 19th C., but most are post-WWII,
and the 1970’s and eighties. Not so long ago, I remember cataloguing photos of
a “Doust’s Mill”, perhaps some where near Manjimup.
There is also a database of employees of these State Government departments,
dating back to the early 20th C. I found my own (Clifford) grandfather (and
his brother) worked for the Forests Department from the mid-19 teens until the
mid 1920s.
I would be pleased to do any searches for members, at their request, subject to
the usual copyright and permissions to which any search of Government data are
subject. The ultimate objective is for all this data to be uploaded to Trove,
at the National Library of Australia.
I have just been in Japan for 4 weeks, and have back with a hideous URTI, so I
beg your indulgence for any delays.
Doug.

Hi Malcolm
Long time no hear.
I have a large group of DOUST families connected to Phil’s.
I didn’t follow up on movements (20 years ago) – but if you come up with a
name I will forward the info.

Subject: [dps-chat] Doust Family of Toodayay WA and query elsewhere
Howdy all,
I remember reading somewhere that a family that had married into my Parker
family that was very numerous in WA
Also had some cousins or a brother that went to (I think) Sydney or NSW. I
think they were of the Doust family maybe.
Has anyone any knowledge of the WA Dousts having rellies going to the east
also about the same time they came here.
