Don's Patch #70 from http://www.don-guitar.com May 15, 2007

First word, from Don:

Every time I drive by a Dollar General store, unless my wallet
is empty, I have to go in and buy a few bags of Red Bird brand
Soft Peppermint Puffs. I'm addicted to the silly things.
Fortunately Lisa likes them too so I don't get scolded as badly
as I might otherwise; especially if I bring home a bag or two of
Smarties candies for her. The amazing thing is that I can go
into a dollar store and buy two candies made of cane sugar
with no corn syrup in them. Corn products have about the
same effect on Lisa as auto battery acid. It's not pretty, so
I've become a very faithful reader of labels.

All day, while working on the ezine and personal news pages,
we've listened to some fascinating music we found with Google
video. It's so incredible to be able to dredge some eclectic
piece of music out of my memory and then be able to find a
performance of it, often by the original artist, on google video.
We've enjoyed performances by The Blues Brothers, Diana
Krall, Cab Calloway, Wes Montgomery, Eddie Harris,
Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Leon Russell, Emmy Lou Harris,
Tom T. Hall and Delbert McClinton and, as I type this, Lisa's
googling "Los Lonely Boys" and found a video of
them appearing with Carlos Santana. Wow, I bet that's
cool!

Later y'all,

Don

Last word, from Lisa:

I hate to mow, I really do. So does Don. It's hard, it's
hot, it's dirty and then next week you have to do it again.
Our lawn is an assortment of weeds and thin grass that
suits me just fine, and if God wants beautiful green
grass, she can send rain. I'll water the flower beds.
So now you know my gardening style; time to
get to it.

'Til next time,

Lisa

The most important people on the Internet, for you and I as computer
users, are software developers. The world's coolest computer, without
software, is like a car without fuel. It might look great, but what
can it do? It doesn't matter who produces the software you love and
use regularly, the developers of that software need your support.

A bit of advice from Internet veteran Bayard J. Fox:

New computer users are often in awe of the things you can get without
cost on the Internet. There can be hidden costs for the unwary. Use a
"throw away" email address to register, and be constantly on guard
against giving away personal information. Use a firewall, and provide
only the barest minimum of information on questionnaires.
