Don's Patch #64 from http://www.don-guitar.com  February 15, 2007

First word, from Don:

It's us again y'all, coming to you from beautiful, um, ok, cold and
damp, downtown, um, well it's not exactly a town (is downvillage
a word?) but anyway, here we are in the middle of Buchanan
Lake Village on the banks of what's left of Lake Buchanan. I say
"what's left" because 47% of it has gone downstream. Buchanan
is the first in a string of lakes. The rest of the lakes in the string
are kept at a constant level by draining Buchanan as needed to
keep them full, so, in drought years, like this one, people who have
lake front property are suddenly in possession of a great deal of
additional property but they have to walk a bit farther to get to
the beach. It hasn't been a problem for us since we don't have
lake front property and aren't into boating or fishing but there are
a lot of local businesses which depend on the out-of-towners who
come from the "big city" on weekends to go boating and fishing.
The rains we've had have been of the slow, soaking variety which is
really good for grass (great, I get to mow more often *argh*) but
doesn't help the lake much.

In other news, I have a blog at Lockergnome and started it off
by writing everything I know about buying and selling on eBay
which means it won't take long to read if you're interested.

Don't forget to keep in touch. I still don't have our feedback
form working but it's close to the top of my to-do list and there
are valid contact addresses on our Contact pages.

============== Humor =============

Here's a simple little test that I edited from a forwarded
email that was way too long. The answers will be near
the end of the ezine.

1. What do you put in a toaster?

2.  What do cows drink?

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house
is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from
pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks,
what is a green house made from?

4. It's twenty years ago, and a plane crashes smack in the
middle of "no man's land" between East and West Germany.
Where would you bury the survivors?

5. Without using a calculator;
You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven.
In London, 17 people get on the bus;
In Reading, 6 people get off, 9 get on.
In Swindon, 2 people get off, 4 get on.
In Cardiff, 11 people get off, 16 get on.
You eventually arrive at Milford Haven.
What was the name of the bus driver?

A bit of advice from Internet veteran Bayard J. Fox:

New computer users are often in awe of the things you can get without
cost on the Internet. There can be hidden costs for the unwary. Use a
"throw away" email address to register, and be constantly on guard
against giving away personal information. Use a firewall, and provide
only the barest minimum of information on questionnaires.
