[dolphinaudio-beta] Re: SV: Re: Latest beta

Hi Niels

On the Windows Start menu you should run Programs > SAM > Configure SAM.
That will launch the Control Panel for SAM. You will then see a list of all
drivers that SAM can handle. Column 2 in the list shows by using 0 or 1 if
something is selected for each driver.

To unselect Orpheus to use Microsoft Mary SAPI 4 instead, you need to do the
following:
* Locate "Dolphin Orpheus synthesiser" in the list and double click on it
* Uncheck "Speech On"
* Press OK
* Locate "SAM to SAPI 4" in the list and double click on it
* In the top most combo box select "Microsoft..." and then select Mary in
the voice list below
* Press OK
* Press Close to close the Control Panel
* EaseReader will now use Mary for Self voicing

NOTE! If you want to use a SAPI 5 voice instead, you need to unselect both
Orpheus and SAPI 4 (and any other synth above "SAM to SAPI 5" in the list).

As Zuhair suggests, we would also like to have this more integrated and it
is on the wishlist for future release.

Hope it helped.

Regards,
/Diana

Hi Diana,

I don't understand what to do. Should this be done from inside ER
(Tools/Settings) or directly fron the SAM Configuration (from the menu
"programmer") or from "Speech" in ControlPanel?

I can see Orpheus only in ControlPanel, and I can't see how to
select/unselect items???? - and choosing Mary doesn't affect ER. Should I
restart first?

/Niels
(- now with questions..)

Hi

EaseReader is using SAM to find what voice to use for the self voicing
feature. If you go into the SAM Control Panel and select for example
Microsoft Mary SAPI 4 that will be used by EaseReader. HOWEVER you need to
unselect all other voices (for example Orpheus) to ensure that EaseReader
uses the correct voice (ER select the first in alphabetic order).

Please try that to see if it has something to do with Via Voice or
EaseReader.

/Diana

Hi,

I wonder if you can give me some more details on how I can do this. I have
SAM set to use IBM Viavoice, but the self voicing options still do not work.

Regards.
