[dokuwiki] Re: what about a Google Calendar plugin ?

Hi Terence and all -

We'd like to have a calendar in our wiki too - haven't explored this
recently but I'm glad to see the discussion.

A model that might be nice for this is the "sidebar widgets" plugin
for WordPress. It basically lets you configure, on the backend, any
number of "text widgets" that you can place in the sidebar in whatever
order you like. One plugin, lots of user-configurable widgets. I'm not
sure how they do it, but other plugin creators make use of the sidebar
widgets plugin when it's detected to make it easy to assign a home for
an html snippet or whatever.

In DokuWiki this would be really handy, esp if each could be called up
as needed using syntax.

Just a thought,

Tobias

I looked at the google calander a few days ago; it appears to work a
little differently than analytics (and possibly adsense) as there's
not really just one "code" you'd enter for things.

From what I understand, you're able to set multiple calendars up, to
be used for different types of schedules-- think of a site that might
use it for clubs, or organizational agendas per "group" or something
similar.

Additionally, there are parameters you can use as part of the URL to
launch a "default tab" (per week/month/day, etc)... As well as the
name of the calendar... And of course there's the issue of size of the
displayed calendar.

So it might be a little better to do this as a syntax plugin, perhaps
something like:

googlecalendar>code,tab?widthxheight|name

Though I've not fully investigated google calendar's options nor
written a syntax plugin yet.
