[dokuwiki] user switch and $INFO variable

hi all,
to get the user logged in, i read the global variable
$INFO['client'] ... because the $INFO['user'] seems to have a strange
behavior...
is there a better way than reading the global $INFO vaiable in order to
get the user-name of the user logged in? say an auth function i didn't
see yet?
