[dokuwiki] sitemap-verification with google (dokuwiki never returns 404-errors)

After successfully creating a sitemap.xml I uploaded the sitemap-file to
google-sitemap and now want to verify it. I created the
google-verify-file in the root-folder but when trying to verify I get:
We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a
status of 200 (OK) in the header.
This means that google checks for the verify-file in the rootfolder, but
does not read its content, but only checks the status, which is 200.
Then google checks if a not-existing-file returns 404 or 200 too. And
therefore checks for http://mydomain.org/googlexxxxxxxxxxx_not_exists.html
and now this file returns status 200 as well, cause dokuwiki never
returns a 404-error.
Anyone has found a solution for this already? Or do I need to dig deep
into apache to return 404 for this specific file. (I tried a few
RewriteRules in .htaccess but failed so far, cause only apache 2.1.x can
do easy 404-Rules and I use 2.0.x here ...)
thnx
