I'd vote to avoid "supporting MySQL" and instead supporting one of the
DB-independent abstraction layers that allow the user to choose from a
broader range of backends. Once you've gone Postgres, you never go back; I
personally find the amount of software out there that takes a
MySQL-or-nothing approach frustrating.
