Oh, sorry, that was a bad way to word that...
What I meant was 2 different .htaccess files in different folders within
the same path (a parent and a child). In my case one in the root
(/.htaccess) and one it my dokuwiki dir (/dokuwiki/.htaccess) both of
which are read when apache serves up something in the path /dokuwiki/
However, how they are read/merged, etc. (in terms of rewrites) was just
getting over my head. So i just got rid of the /dokuwiki/.htaccess and
put it's rewrites into /.htaccess
I'm sure there is a way to keep them independent and better separate
rewrites on a per-folder basis... but as I mentioned, I just couldn't
figure it out. I guess using shared hosting is my real limitation since
I can't just put all this in apache conf.
Cheers,
Ryan

How can you have two identically named files in the same folder?? :)
