[dokuwiki] configuration settings page gone

Dear all,

I'm a bit at a loss and wonder if someone would be willing/able to give me a
hint:

My dokuwiki installation was working fine until "all of a sudden" the
graphical configuration settings page (?do=admin&page=config) disapeared.
That means that the link opens a page without any content (except for
...<HTML><HEAD><META ...></HEAD><BODY></BODY></HTML>). The other pages from
the Administration page ( e.g. User Manager) are working perfectly fine.

I really think I checked everything related to permission settings. The only
thing I can think of that happened, was switching to PHP Version 5.2.1 ...
but there is no error message or something.

Does this scenario inspire anyone to make any guess or hint what else I
could check or try?
