We have been grappling with this issue as well. When we update our wiki
with a newer stable version, how much of the documentation do we need to
snapshot and reproduce locally. We have already had problems with people
updating pages on splitbrain that they thought were ours, even after we
changed our templates to make them look a lot different. Some of them
just won't pay attention. The real fear is that somebody will place
confidential information on your site. The fewer links we have to
splitbrain, the less likely it is that this will happen. Of course
nothing is foolproof, as nature has developed some very ingenious fools.
But we can try.

By the way, thanks for a great wiki platform. Our internal site is
averaging 67 page updates every day this year with only 112 registered
users. I will be interested in seeing how it does when we get the other
3/4 of the company on board.
