The problem was that I had mis-remembered it as being an admin/config
parameter.
... and I just tried searching for "edit window size" on my DokuWiki
installation and it found nothing. OK, it finds it as you say when at
dokuwiki.org but it's not always obvious that one needs to search
there rather than on one's own similar looking site.
I must admit that I haven't found the search box particularly useful
when looking for other things so I do tend to neglect it rather.
... and finally, sorry, yes I could have looked a bit harder before
asking.
