Not sure if this is an issue for you, for me it was:
The dokuwiki code is awesomely clean and neat.

I have never programmed php before, but was instantly able to
hack around in dokuwiki. I even made a fully working version
of dokuwiki with mysql-support. My development is suspended
now, as I like the current dokuwiki better, but the point is:
  The code is good.  (btw: *thanks developers*).
