[dokuwiki] SLES9 and sessions disabled

Hello, I'm trying to install dokuwiki on one of our companies SLES9 builds.
Unfortuanately, it seems that php was built with 'disable-session', and so
dokuwik spits out this error:

*Fatal error*: Call to undefined function: session_name() in *
/srv/www/htdocs/dokuwiki/inc/init.php* on line *49

*Aside from asking the admins to rebuild the php instance for me (yeah
right), what other options could I pursue.  Is there a way to disable
sessions within dokuwiki?
