[dokuwiki] Released version & development version for every page

Hello list,
I wanted to share you one of my concerns. Vandalism is one of the biggest
threats to wikis: either by bots or by humans, wikis get spammed or altered
in a bad way. This could be solved easily by forcing people to register to
be able to edit pages. Even though, it is not perfect, as people could
register and vandalise the page, and as it makes contributing more
difficult. Wikipedia tryes to solve that problem with "starring" good and
reliable articles, and preventing people to edit other articles.
What I would want is a "Development version" and a "Released version" for
every page. The released version would be, in fact, an alias to a specific
version of the page, reviewed and certified correct and non vandaliserd by a
moderator/registered user/whatever. The "Edit" version would be the version
everybody would be able to change.
I'll try to be more precise: this is a short part of the history for the
main page of my wiki:
- Le 13/12/2007, à 16:38
accueil<http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/accueil?rev=1197560282>–
fabien26
- Le 30/11/2007, à 04:36
accueil<http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/accueil?rev=1196393801>–
bioman
And here is what I would want, if I am logged in as a moderator:
- Le 13/12/2007, à 16:38
accueil<http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/accueil?rev=1197560282>– fabien26
- *click here to make this version the production version*
- Le 30/11/2007, à 04:36
accueil<http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/accueil?rev=1196393801>– bioman
- *actual production version*
On a more technical point of view: the process that says that the page
"accueil" should point to the latest edited version would need to be
changed, in point to the latest released version. That process would be
different for the edit page, where you should get the latest edit.
Sorry if I am trying to predict the future, but I think this is really
something to look at - would lower the stress on huge wiki moderators (quite
a bad publicity if your main pages get vandalized several times a day), and
still allow everybody to contribute without registration. It would also
higher the level of quality for the pages as it would include review.
Is this something that can be integrated directly in dokuwiki, or eventually
released as plugin? I would also love some feedback on the idea... maybe it
already exists? didn't find any plugin in the dokuwiki list...
Yann
