Purple numbers are not meant to be human readable. They are designed
to be as stable as possible even when the content changes slightly.
I can definitely see the benefit of speaking granular IDs. Yes, real
purple numbers are less likely to change. The question is: Which
benefits weighs more?
And using speaking IDs takes the 'numbers' out of 'purple numbers'. ;-)
What I don't like is that they are still too long.
Really? The longest HID on the wiki:syntax page is #HID1.2.2:12. There's
hardly any way to make it much shorter ... The only shorter ways I can
think of are either #HID1b2:12 or #X1.2.2:12 (or combined: #X1b2:12).
