You are in fact correct.  It turns out that had configured APC
incorrectly, and it was caching DokuWiki, which was causing the scope
resolution problems.

There seem to have been a few mentions of APC in the mailing list recently. Perhaps you could start a tips page at wiki.splitbrain.org for using Dokuwiki with APC. Just a thought.
