[dokuwiki] Manipulating Files on the Command Line [WAS: Re: Mass User Creation?]

Dear "Alias Online",

Option 1:

you want to read up on "bash-programming" or "shell-scriping" - which
are basically the same. You can find a quick overview at
http://linuxbasics.org/tutorials/advanced/realworld/puzzling_commandlines
Linux and MacOS do not/should not make a big difference at this level.

Links to more in-depth documentation can be found at
http://linuxbasics.org/tutorials/using/command_line

Disclosure: I am one of the admins of LinuxBasics.org
Shameless plug: These are wiki-pages :)

Option 2:

Alternatively, you can use any programming-language you like - as long
as you can modify text-files on the server.

Option 3:

You tell us where you want to get the user-information from. Maybe
someone has already solved a simular case of user-import.

Hope this helps,

Stefan
