[dokuwiki] Hiding namespaces

I need to hide some namespaces from the users. They maintain sidebar
content and such and I don't want them to appear in the index and
such.
It doesn't look like that's doable out of the box.
I'm thinking about either using the already existing configuration
variable: Hide matching pages or adding a new one for hiding
namespaces.
Is this something others are interested? Should this be added to
Dokuwiki itself?
Any ideas how it should be implemented and what beyond the index it
should apply to?
