All of the ideas look great to me. I especially vote that this event be
added (for whatever my vote counts).
What about the possibility of having an "index" rendering mode instead
of or in addition to this? It seems like that would be similar to the
"metadata" rendering mode. If I understand things right, though, having
an "index" rendering mode would prevent plugins other than syntax
plugins from adding stuff to the page content, so maybe the event is the
best way to do this. What thoughts have you had about using a rendering
mode to add things to the indexing?
