[dokuwiki] Global start misbehaving?

I'm wondering if the global start functionality is misbehaving.

When I create a link [[items:]] it changes it properly to items:index
(index is my global start page name).

Shouldn't I be able to type ?id=items: into the addressbar and get to
the same page?
Right now it clips the ":" off and tries to find a page 'items' in the
root namespace...martin
