Bernd never stated that Yann.

the only thing he commented on was whether or not to have a
license discussion.

assuming anything more will likely lead to more
misunderstanding rather than less. and misunderstandings
necessitate spending more time communicating in order to get
back to a place of understanding--an activity i'd like to
minimize.

> I suggest you give us these reasons,

see how assuming leads to wasted typing. you are asking Bernd
to tell you why he doesn't want dokuwiki licensed under the
GPLv3, and he may not even have any concerns about a GPLv3'd
dokuwiki.

this is important.

what you are stating is an _analysis_ of what Bernd wrote. we
don't know what the intention was behind his words.

when i read Bernd's words i imagined he was simply expressing
concerns about a flame war possibly igniting.

what would likely lead to greater understanding--more effective
communication--would be for you to express how you felt when
you read Bernd's words. this would be good information for
him.

when you read Bernd's words i'm guessing one thing you may have
felt was sadness because your need for being included wasn't
met.

if this was the case, and had you expressed this rather than
analyzing Bernd's motives, Bernd would have received some
important information about how his words were less effective
than he might have hoped. this would have created a space for
Bernd to express what his intention was behind his words.

by analyzing Bernd's motives Bernd is now faced with an
accusation that he was attacking you. and this can easily lead
him to want to defend himself rather than expressing in more
detail what his original concerns were.

have i made it clear how analyzing someone's words (rather than
expressing how you feel upon reading their words) is likely to
result in less effective and less efficient communication than
you may prefer?

david
