Bernd,

i'm wondering if you are simply concerned that a license
discussion may result in people spending more time expressing
their opinions rather than truly listening to each other--a
flame war?

fwiw, when you write ~"there's no reason to discuss . . .
especially with people who . . . don't know" you are presenting
an idea.  rather than expressing what you _think_ about a topic
that is important to many people i suspect you would be more
effective conveying your concerns if you described how you
_feel_ about the prospect of a license discussion.
