Ah Ha, I suspected it was buried in there somewhere.

But, I have now created conf\acronyms.local.conf and added a handful of
abbreviations. It has the same UID, GID and permissions as
conf\acronyms.conf. The new items are still not tagged on the pages. Is
there something else that needs to be changed to enable this file?

The content is as follows:

CPU          Central Processing Unit
DARPA        Defense Agencies Research Projects Administration
NNTP         Network News Transport Protocol
TCP/IP       Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol

Textpad 4 via an SMB share reports both files with Code set DOS and File
type UNIX. I have tried both the ASCII and UTF-8 code sets with no
change in the results.
