[dokuwiki] Adding a new user (plain auth) forces email address

Hello,if i add a new user account in dokuwiki (using plain authentication), i need to enter an email address that the new user is accepted. Should'nt those mandatory fields be signalled (with a star '*' or so), so one could know whats needed and what is optional?
And, btw. is it really necessary to force a mail address? We use DW as internal wiki only, so there is not always a need for mailing something.
