I back this. I would love to see a good solution to pay plugin developers for good plugins. Especcially the WYSIWYG editor. But there are more plugins out there I would spend money on, if only the plugin developer then would implement the features I wish for in a given timeframe.

You read my mind with this! I'll put $50 personal funds in. This is entirely worth it. I would do the same if somebody developed a clean WYSIWYG plug-in with no Perl dependency too....not that I want to start a precedent, but sometimes a block of functionality's value far outweighs its cost, especially when paid for by an entire community and then released into open source. -----Original Message----- From: dokuwiki-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:dokuwiki-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Andreas Gohr Sent: Sunday, March 08, 2009 5:19 PM To: DokuWiki Mailinglist Subject: [dokuwiki] [Ad] DokuWiki Sync Plugin Hi *, yes, by a strict definition this mail is spam ;-) so feel free to skip it, but you will miss something great :-P I make it short - this is to announce a new plugin for DokuWiki called "sync". As the name suggests it allows you to sync pages and media files between two wikis. IMHO this is the best invention since sliced bread of course but there's a catch: Unlike with all my previous plugins I sense a business opportunity ;-). This is my chance to get filthy rich with Open Source ^_^. Well or at least buy another electronic gimmick (do I hear someone say PS3?). So instead of releasing the plugin right into the wild I'm selling it. But since I still like to have it used by people who can't afford to buy software (think students, developing countries, people crushed by the economy) I'm selling it to the rich people only :-). Here's the deal: I want $750 (which isn't too much if you consider that I worked several days on it). But I only want this money once and not necessarily from a single entity. I just like to have everybody who can afford it to chip in, and as soon as it reaches $750 I'll release the plugin as open source. For free. For everybody. Everybody wins. I already set up the plugin page at http://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:sync and you can read more about the plugin and the "sale" in my blog at http://www.splitbrain.org/blog/2009-03/08-dokuwiki_sync_plugin_for_sale Andi PS: don't worry I don't plan to do that on all my future plugins ;-)
