[dokuwiki] A bug or a feature?

Hi,

recently I discovered a bug in DokuWiki and reported it but Andi told
me that's not a bug, it's a feature. And really, I found a passage in
the documentation describing this "feature".

Im talking about the automatic detection of windows shares in normal
text. If DokuWiki founds something like this: \\SERVER\volume, it
detects a windows share name and automatically creates a link to it. 
It doesn't matter if you mark this share as link or not.

I expected that \\SERVER\volume would be handles as normal text and
only [[\\SERVER\volume]] would generate a link.

My discussion with Andi came to a dead end and he suggested to continue
it on the list so we can ask you what you think about the autodetection
of windows shares in normal text.

I would like to change DokuWiki so that it only creates links if the
user requested it. This means only [[\\SERVER\volume]] will result in a
link whereas \\SERVER\volume is handles as normal text.
