I was thinking we should adopt a flexible license for Delphi Zip. We haven't had any kind of formal license before, and sometimes companies have expressed their concern about this. Once a company told me they'd need a formal license agreement before they could use Delphi Zip. They had their legal people draft something up, and I signed it. To head off this type of concern in the future, we should include a license policy with our distribution archive. These are the most popular open source licenses now: MPL - Mozilla Public License GPL - GNU Public License LGPL - Lesser GNU Pulic License BSD - Berekley license (they have an open source version of unix) The LGPL allows people to use a common library (like Delphi Zip), and they can include their own closed-source code, and they can sell their product without paying royalties. It seems to me like LGPL would be the best fit for what we are doing. Does anyone have comments? http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html Eric
