[ddots-l] Re: voice recognition software

Hi Andy and All,

Don't forget that there is Jsay, a great programme to make Dragon Naturally
Speaking more accessible for XP and Jaws users, and a newer follow-up one
(momentarily forgot name) to work with Vista's own speech recognition tool -
all distributed by tandt-consultancy in the UK. I acquired Jsay and have
found it extremely useful.

Cheers,

JDH

Hi sorry it took so long to get back but I just finished a stay in
Washington D.C. and I found my way out...

As far as speech programs go there was some years ago a war between IBM
ViaVoice and Dragon Naturally Speaking. Then Naturally Speaking got bought
out about 3 times which at first the buy out was to take the money out and
leave a shell of a program.

Now today you will find Naturally Speaking the best overall for speech to
text. There are some cheap ones out there and some shareware but they fall
short. So if you want something that will work right get "Naturally
Speaking and make sure it's the latest version. The new one has very
shorter learning curve. Take care...

Hello all,
I am looking into using voice recognition software for text dictation and
was wondering if any of you have explored this option? Is there a particular
program that works better than others? I was playing with e-Speaking, but it
doesn't seem to understand a lot of the commands (although, I'm sure a
better microphone would help).
  Your suggestions are most welcome.
