Sheila:
You should patch at least one pair of your mackie's sub outputs into a pair of inputs on your audio interface, then whenever you want to record vocals, assign the channel that your mic is plugged into to that sub output. Of course, a better solution especially since you are a vocalist would be to get a dedicated mic pre and plug it directly into your audio interface. What audio interface do you have?

I have a 32 channel Mackie for sale, and I'm using a smaller version which
is all I need at this point. Even at that, since I used to pay an engineer,
I don't really know the equipment.

Does your mixing board have additional outputs besides the jmain outs? What
board is it?

When I try to solo my vocals I am getting all my midi tracks. I'm
not just talking about a little bleed from my head phones, I'm getting the
full blown arrangement. I'm arming and unarming correctly. So what else amm
I missing? I do have my mic plugged into a mixing board if that provides a
clue, and yes, the speakers are off when I record these vocals. This is just my second project, and I didn't notice this happening on Project 1. I would
appreciate any thoughts.
