Hi. Well, after disabling the firewire network adaptor, Bluetooth, and the
broad com device, I am no longer getting those drop outs with audio playback
on the mac book with the Tascam FW1884. This is certainly a step in the
right direction however, I'm only referring to playback of stereo files in
winamp and other media players. I haven't tried anything in sonar yet.
Before I try loading a session and seeing how far I get, I have a question.
Being that windows xp sp3 is a thirty two bit operating system, I assume
that it is only utilizing half of the 2.4gHz Intel core 2 duo processor. If
I enable the multi processing engine in sonar, will the application at least
use the other core as well? I wanted to ask before trying as I don't want
to cause something unwanted.
I have not got a satisfactory answer in regards to having the TI firewire
chip installed in my white mac book in place of the current chip without
that modification voiding my Apple warranty. The aluminum mac book pro is
appealing for a bunch of reasons, but, even if I could afford it right now,
I can't really justify e baying my mint barely used mac book to upgrade. It
would be a financial loss and I don't think the gains warrant it.
My last port of call is to call Apple directly on Monday which I may do
either way because in any case, I'd like to know.
Thanks,
Cameron.
