Hey Nev!
As far as I'm aware, an uninstall of Sonar 6 is 100% unnecessary, you simply
don't have to remove it!

I just got sonar 8 and I heard that before I install sonar 8 I should

sonar6. If I do that will I have to reinstall my control surfaces? The
control surfaces in question are the fw and the transport.
