[ddots-l] Re: question about computer's power supply

Keep in mind that a power supply with more wattage will require more cooling to
remove the heat.

  Thanks Andy,

I do have two 500 interal drives installed, and am running several usb
devices. However, I am using a usb hub for the usb devices. Will the 2 500
internal drives impact it significantly?

    Omar,
350 Watts should be more than enough for what your computer is running,
and getting a higher wattage won't speed things up. You'll want to start
thinking about higher wattage when you are running lots of drives, peripheral
cards, and/or USB devices at the same time.

      Hello,

My new quad core has a 350 wat power supply. I'm going to be using a lot
more softsynths than before. I have 4 gigs of ram in the system, but when using
so many virtual instruments, should I upgrade my power supply to a higher
wattage, or is the use of vst's more affected by ram and processor, rather than
the power supply?

      Thanks.
