Phil if I got the tascam would I be by passing my Motu?
Or would the two work together in some way? Right now the MOTU has the 8 ins and outs, plugged in to my mack board, and I pretty much just use 1 and 2. Hardly ever the others, now that I emport audio to mix. I wonder if I could do alright with out the Mackie and the MOTU if I got this board? 
And, would this board be quieter? I'm assuming you can run mikes through.

Yup, if I didn't have an FW1884 then, I would have a MOTU interface. They really are excellent. The drivers are really well written and you will achieve low latency running one of those cards. I am able to achieve the same latency here on my system running my Tascam FW1884, than I was when running my MOTU 2408.

This is exactly the experience I had with a Focusrite interface (the 26
I/O).  Replaced it with MOTU and no more issues.

Hi there have you considered the Motu pre8, or Motu 828mk3, they are
fantastic interfaces, I use to own the presonus firepod, and thaught it was a fantastic card too, but I somehow had issues with pop's and clicks on all 
my systems, and no mattter what I did to resolve the issue, there was no
getting around to solve my pop, and click issue, and I hav been using motu 
products ever since, and things couldn't be smoother in my studio.
