Should be possible. Things to check out: 1 - One or other of your devices (sequencer or PC) needs to be the timingmaster and one the slave. Check your hardware sequencer to see what timingoptions it provides (MTC, MIDI Time Code will probably the easiest road to go down) and decide which device is going to be the master; 2 - The Sonar Help system has a number of very good step-by-step exampleswhen using Sonar as either the master or the slave for this kind of work, soI'd encourage you to have a good read;3 - In Sonar, set up 16 MIDI tracks, each with its own MIDI channel and arm them for recording from the MIDI In port that your sequencer is attached to;4 - What happens next depends on which device is acting as the master. If the sequencer is the master, you'll press R to record in Sonar, then Sonar will pause until you press the Play button on your sequencer. If Sonar's the master you'll probably have to perform some operation on the sequencer before telling Sonar to record Best wishes. I've not tried using it with Sonar yet. I have a hardware Sequencer which I used to use with my Motif, I'd like to be able to record these sequencer tracks on to Sonar in real time as my sequencer has no USB. Is it possible to record a multi tracked sequenced project straight to Sonar using midi in real time? www.jerryleelewis.co.uk----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Burgess" <tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 06, 2009 9:19 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: motifWell, I can give my own age away as well - I'm still a hardware freak, despite the fact that some of the software stuff is completely stunning. Sometimes I just want to put my hands on an instrument and play. I'veseveral clients who use Motif models and adore them and Adrian's tutorialsare superb and you must have liked its sound, or you wouldn't have bought it. Glad to see that you're resurrecting it. Best wishes. I foolishly resisted moving over to softsynths and the like for years. everything I used I memorised, Korg T3 Work Station, four Modules, Three effect units, compressors, Real to Real, Dat players and Creator on the Atari 1040. I understood all the systems better than the guys who sold them to me. I memorised every single screen. I used to show people how to record to anolog real to real with symti and how you could have the sequencer in time with your anolog recordings. This is all giving my Age away. The reason for me saying this is: Caketalking is incredible! It's great to be able to keep your mind on the music without wishing you had the IQ of aNASA Scientist, although, I truly believe some of you guys could work for NASA. If it makes you feel any better, I'm rubbish at working things by remembering patterns of button presses with no feedback. Best wishes. Well truly against the ropes, I must say, it was the Yamaha RM1X more than the Motif that used to fry my Brain. The RM1X is a Dance Station accessible by counting cursor positions, counting clicks on knobs and all that Jazz. I use to use it mainly as a sequencer. The Motif I used was the rack Version, not two many of the buttons were dual function so it wasn't too hard to navigate. Please don't tell me there are RM1X fans on this site? I'm beginning to feel like Ricky Hatton. I'm proud to say, thanks to you guys at DD I'm able to put my Motif in the loft. Goodnight Motif. Steve W PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
