  John,

I'm currently using an Intel I7 Quad core, 2.9 GHz with the Intel x58
chipset. 6 Gb, triple channel memory, ASUS P6T Deluxe, 3 Western Digital
Raptor 10000 RPM drives, with a 1Tb bulk storage drive. I use a SoundBlaster
PCI X-FI for JAWS and the Tascam FW 1884 with the Digimac 96K ADAT, for 16
simultaneous audio channels, with 4 MIDI inputs all recording at the same time
plus 3 Dimension Pro soft synths and a dozen or so plug-ins with no drop-outs,
and I mean NO drop-outs at all! It took me 4 years to get to this place, but
all the major DAW builders are using this configuration .

The OS is currently vista Ultimate 64, but I have been testing Windows 7 for
3 or 4 months now, and it is worth the upgrade.

Versions of Sonar I'm using are Sonar 8.31 both 32 and 64, and Sonar 8.51,
both 32 and 64 bit.

  Hope this helps.

  Sean

I don't want to do that at this time. Would you stay with the dual rather
than the quad?

Upgrade to Windows 7 at the same time.

Hi: I'm using a Pc with the following spects with sonar 6 and am going
to upgrade.
processor amd afnold 64 processor 3500plus 2.25 gigaherts, ram 1 gig.

I was going to upgrade to quad core; however, someone who knows what he
is talking about posted a message on the midimag list which read:

" Hey, the only problem not is that quad cores aren't really
supported right by xp 32 bit, I understand that two cores is really only used,
and with 64 bit, which will be king sometday, but for now, many dxi synths and
effects won't work, so for now, better do dual boot or wait till 64 bit grows
up and everyone catches up.

Any thoughts on this? John Fioravanti
