audio tracks, I haven't even looked at the midi stuff yet! man its all gotten complex in the last 15 years!

I'm doing what it says in the tutorial, but when I get to the menu it tells me that none of the items in the list are availible. how ever if I just right click on the effects bin in the track pain, and go to the effects menu the options are all availible, but when I click on one the computer seems to freeze. now after that I seem to have a reverb or what ever in the effects bin, but nothing happens as far as I can tell.
