You wouldn't believe the technique this one person taught when
fingering chords for beginners.  It was an internet forum where you
listened to videos and audio files for learning and read all his
lessons.  His technique was to use a chicken claw type fingering not
using the thumb at all.  As soon as I read that, I said bye-bye.  I
had 2 1/2 years of formal training when I was a kid and knew that was
way wrong.  There's a lot of strange techniques out there.  Yes, I
find myself, sometimes not using my pinky in some triads, but I do
work on remedying that once I realize it - stretch long and hard...
