I have set-up a bus dedicated to the output, (stereo 7/8), from the FW1884. 
I insert it on the track as an auxiliary send for each of the tracks that 
need to be monitored.

And yes, you will need a head phone preamp. Raine make the HR-6 which is 
very affordable on EBay with up to 12 headphones at one time with 6 volumes 
per pare.
