When you freeze a synth or a track with effects, the synth or effects no longer
are being processed in real time so they are not taking up any of your
processor's resources.

    Berhane:
Freezing takes tracks thatyou have recorded with soft synths and records
the soft synth as an audio track so that the soft synth is no longer taking up
system resources. However, if yu want to make any changes, you need to
unfreeze it. With a new multi core computer, i don't freeze stuff any more
unless I need to give somebody all the separate audio tracks.
