[ddots-l] Re: firepod latency and performance

Phil,

Obviously, a lot depends on the case and fans, but if your vocalist is close to the mic it's very negligible.

Depends if your recording vocals in the same room doesn't it Sean oar, are you saying that the noise level is so neglijable that it's not worth worrying about?

That's true. Not used Raptor drives here. I have heard they are a bit noisier than standard SATA drives. Is that true?

Phil,

You forgot to mention that she should go with a 10,000 RPM SATA drive like the Western Digital Raptor for the audio drive. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Muir" <ddots@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Scacy wrote: I will probably buy a new drive and direct it exclusively for Sonar projects. I was sure that with this system I would have no performance troubles like this. Apparently I should be able to rock 42 tracks with no
problems. What do you think?

Phil replied: your not trying to run your Sonar projects on the same drive as your Operating system are you? You should never do that as this will definitely lead to performance issues such as drop outs exedra. You should have Sonar and your operating system on one drive, and all of your audio files on a second drive. The second drive should be kept just for Sonar projects and audio files that you use in applications such as Sonar and Sound Forge.
