You should connect drives directly to your PC whenever possible.

I'm really surprised the Glyth harddrive won't work with the hub. I have
my seagate connected to a hub and it works. USB will just be slower when
transfering audio to it. I've heard that some people have had problems
doing that with USB, but I've done it before and never had problems with
it.

Is USB a viable alternative to Firewire for a dedicated audio drive? I
have a Glyph firewire drive, but it just doesn't play nice with the
Edirol FA66 audio interface. Both work great when they
're the only firewire device on the system, But together, the FA66 causes
occasional disk drive crashes--not good.
I tried chaining the fa66 to the glyph and that worked relatively well,
but they're still contentious. I tried a firewire hub, and the glyph
won't even work on the hub, so that's out.
I tried the glyph on a firewire cardbus adaptor and that was even
worse--total system crash.
For now, I'm using the system drive for audio data until some solution
can be found. Is the system drive a viable option for modest audio work?
its a 7200 rpm drive on the ADK laptop.
