  On the left of the modes buttons, which are to the left of the display 
screen, and also on the right of the knobs, which are the very first buttons 
from your left, there are six buttons. I believe I use to press the bottom 
three, respecttively, until the ecco goes off.

      James, I think you have the  effects on. Turn them off. This is anoying,
