[ddots-l] automation recording and values

Hi: After i've recorded a project, when I look at the volume of a bus, for instance, it says 0, which it should be; however, when I enable automation recording for that control it says, for instance, -4 instead of 0. This is before I've done anything in automation recording for that bus's control. Is there an explanation for why the value changes simply by engaging automation record?
