[ddots-l] Re: accessible audio effects plugins

Hi Neville, as far as I know the only model available is the VoiceWorks Plus. As to its accessibility to anything but factory presets is very limited without sighted assistance. Although front panel knobs are detented, the edit menu has on it 45 or so items on it, and, even though I've gone through the menus with sighted assistance and made a list of all the menu items access would be incredibly hit and miss. I know that Bryan Smart has said on several occasions that he can do a lot with it, although how he manages without sighted assistance beats me. If he would perhaps post and let us know exactly how he accesses it, and the degree to which he does so unaided it would be of great help to us both. I suspect that the fact that the front panel soft knobs, as well as the data wheel are detented helps to a degree. Re your question about splittling harmonies it's a stereo unit, and you can pan harmonies to either of the two outputs, but you wouldn't be able to split, for example, a four-part harmony onto four tracks, since there are only two outputs. You could always buy two, I suppose.
              Good Luck,
                   John.

I have one more question about the Voice Works. Will I be able to get the
same vocal spred on backing vocals with the harmonizer as I would by
dubbling each part? Are all the harmonies applied to one track or is there a
way to split them out by parts?

The only software harmonizer that I know that is worth anything is
Steinberg VoiceMachine. You can operate some of its parameters from the
track inspector.

However, VoiceMachine has never been able to run in real-time in any
stable way for me. That's why I gave up on software and bought a TC
Helicon Voiceworks.
