I use the audio metronome selection under the options/project menu
choice. Ctrl-tab to the metronome options tab of this multipage dialogue
and tab over about three times to a radio button selection that selects
MIDI or audio metronome. Select audio.
I've never gotten the MIDI metronome to work properly and don't care enough
to invest the time to figure it out.
