[ddots-l] Using the sliders and knobs on my Radium49 m-audio keyboard for parameter control.

OK, I want to go through what my understanding of how to do this and get confirmation that my understanding of the manual and of posts on this and the midi-mag list is correct.

Scenario: I want to assign the panning parameter for a track to the first knob on my radium. I go to the pan parameter and, using the context menu, arm it for automation, then again using this menu, I select the remote control selection. In the dialogue that appears, I tab to the learn button. I then turn the knob I want to assign to control the pan through its range of turning and either activate the learn button with the space bar or possibly hit alt-l.

From now on, whenever I am on this track, turning the knob I chose in the previous steps will change the panning parameter. I can do this during a record automation to move the pan around in the mix.

1.  Is this the correct procedure?

2. Can I do this during playback to hear how it might sound before going into automation record?
3. If I simply want to change the parameter from one value to another instantaneously, how do I do this as opposed to creating a shape? I read something about snap shots, but I haven't yet figured out how to do this?

4. With whatever corrections you guys make to my previous understanding, it seems fairly simple for directly accessible things like the pan, volume, etc. But if I want to control a set of parameters, say within the lexicon reverb or the eq with these controls, how do I arm them for automation, and where do I access them to use the learning function to assign the control I want?
