Hi,

I recently bought fw1884, and I use it as a control surface. It works well,
but sometimes the responses are slow.
I haven't used it as an ADA converter.
I had to spend a lot of time to setup the driver due to conflict with other
devices I have.
Also, if you have windows xp sp2, please install the firewire patch from
microsoft web site.
Windows xp sp2 has bug with firewire. Even if you have firewire 1394b, it
runs at 100 not 800. I think it's same for 1394a as well.
Just install the patch in case.
I don't know which model you bought, but fw1884's manuals and documents were
accessible from their web site. I highly suggest to read those documents.
It's less than 100page combining all the documents.
They have a manual for the unit and a manual for working with specific
applications. In this case I guess sonar.
I think once I learn the unit, it'd definitely help to make things work
faster.
Good luck with the setup.

Chi
