Bill & Albert, I'm copying you on this message to tell you that I solved the synth rack view problem. I think you'll be interested in the problem & its solution for future reference.

Kevin,

You're gonna love this.

I fixed the problem, and here's what had happened.

Under the View menu, there's an item called "Enable Tabbing in Open Views". I remember accidently hitting this item last night and somehow getting out of the trouble it caused without giving it much thought. So, a few minutes ago, out of desperation, i hit it again just to see what would happen, and sure enough, problem solved. Now, the synth rack view comes up as expected. So, I looked up that view menu entry in the help system and here's what it said.

View-Enable Tabbing in Open Views --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This command toggles the display of views other than the Track and Console views between floating and docked in the Bus pane of the Track view. When docked in the Bus pane of the Track view, each view has a tab that allows you to display that view.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This all fits, because with my limited vision and a strong magnifier glass, I could see that hitting View, synth rack was bringing up something in the bus pane. Live and learn--put that in your book too.

Phil and All,

This sounds like my most recent "press the reset button" fix even though mine happened in Sonar 6. If Jaws is talking about the inspector, but the inspector is not visible - try typing Alt + W to bring up the window menu. Assuming that only one project is open, choosing cascade should max the track view. See if that fixes the problem. It may be that your whole project is minimized unbeknownst to you.
