Hi,

I don't think you're going to get any joy with the portable drive thing if
it won't install from its own HD.  It sounds very much like you've got some
registry entries scrambled and that's why you're seeing this message when
you run an unrelated application (i.e. Sonar).

Hi Tim and all,

Thank you for all of your suggestions, but so far nothing has worked.  I've
gotten responses from CakeWalk with some of the same suggestions.  Their
last response asked me if Sonar runs and it does along with the tip of the
day etc.  They couldn't find Destinations.msi anywhere either and they think
it may be something related to third party stuff on the CD.  Since Sonar
seems to launch do you guys think all is okay?

Incidently, something I am going to try is to use the computer where it
installed flawlessly to copy the CD contents  to a portable drive and then
take that drive to the the computer where I want to install it and try it.
I had already copied the CD contents to a folder on the HD and installed
from there with no luck getting the same results.  If the portable drive
works I'll let everyone know.

#Also clean out the temp folder for your user profile.  The easiest way to
do this is:

1 - Bring up your Start menu and press Enter on the Run option;

2 - In the dialog that appears type:

%temp%

then press Enter;

3 - In the folder view that appears, press Ctrl+A to highlight all files
then press Shift+Delete (this will delete the files without sending them to
the recycle bin).

This sounds like a question for cakewalk tech support.  I have never heard
of this.  Sometimes this sort of thing happens when there is garbage in your
windows\temp folder.  another setup program may be trying to execute instead
of the sonar setup proggram.  Try cleaning out your windows\temp folder and
see what happens.  You won't cause any harm to your system by deleting the
files lying around in there.

Hi all,

First, I am new at this and am itching to get going but as you will see I am
having trouble. I am using Win XP Home SP2 with all updates and all spyware
and virus detection applications shut down with no firewall running.

I reach a screen after making all the choices as to what I want to install
and get a message telling me it wants to install Destinations.MSI and the
source cannot be found. Here is what the screen says exactly. I used the
JAWS virtualize current window for this.

I have tried browsing the CD for the file location with no luck. I have done
a search for the file with no luck. If I click the cancel button I get a
Windows error 1706 that installation cannot continue and I have to click OK.
If I keep clicking the cancel button eventually the installer will move on
but I have to do this about 6 times and answer OK everytime to the 1706.
This would seem to be something it is looking for on the CD. I've looked on
the Cakewalk site and done a search with no luck. I've run the update from
the Microsoft site and also have DirectX 9C and ran the DirectX utility.

Has anyone come upon this problem? Has everything installed? If not what can
I do?  I've also sent a message to Cakewalk support as well.
